The Graduate Program in Electrical Engineering at UNIFEI is part of the National Institute of Science and Technology in Electrical Energy – INERGE, together with UFJF, UFSJ, UFRJ and UFF. INERGE is headquartered in Juiz de Fora. INERGE is the only national research institute in the area of Electrical Engineering and its mission is to be an international center of excellence in research, development, technology and innovation in the electrical energy sector.

In addition to institutional agreements, there are also agreements for collaboration between professors in joint projects and co-supervision with several institutions, notably ITA, INATEL, UNICAMP, USP, UFJF and UFRJ.

However, most collaborations and joint work between professors and other institutions do not require formal partnerships.
